Ishan Kishan Not Going Back Into Test Cricket Straight Away? Says Rahul Dravid, “Play…”

Regarding Ishan Kishan’s absence from the Indian cricket team’s roster for the Twenty20 International Series against Afghanistan, there has been a lot of conjecture. According to many media sources, Kishan’s dismissal was brought about by “mistrust” between the selectors and him.

With the excuse of “personal reasons,” Kishan chose not to participate in the South Africa Test series and hasn’t played a match since. Prior to the first Twenty20 International match against Afghanistan, head coach Rahul Dravid made it known that Kishan was available, but he also made it obvious that his comeback would only occur if he plays domestic cricket and makes himself available for selection.

“No, really, really not. There was not a choice for Ishan Kishan. In South Africa, Ishan Kishan asked for a break, and we acknowledged, supported, and agreed. He has not yet offered himself for consideration. During the pre-match news conference, Rahul Dravid said, “I am confident that he will play domestic cricket and make himself available for selection when he is available.”

For the T20I series, Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma were selected as possibilities for wicket-keeping.

Although Dravid refuted the rumors, Shreyas Iyer’s non-selection for the T20I series against the Afghans had also contributed to the player indiscipline discourse.

“There is no connection whatsoever between Shreyas Iyer’s case and any disciplinary action. He just missed out on it. The squad has a large number of batsmen. The former Indian captain said, “He did not play in the T20s in the SA as well.

According to Dravid, it was difficult to fit every player into the starting eleven or squad.

“It is regrettable since he is a good player, but it is difficult to accommodate every batsman into the playing 11 or squad. At least during my conversation with the selectors, no discipline-related issues were brought up,” Dravid said.

Nevertheless, Shreyas will represent Mumbai in their Ranji Trophy encounter against Andhra starting on Friday. According to PTI, the classy right-hander will also be included in the Indian team for the five-match Test series that will take place at home against England later this month.
