<p>The real cause of Karan Johar’s resignation from social networking site X has now been made public. He said in a recent interview that he took this choice instinctively in response to nasty remarks made against his infant twins, Yash and Roohi Johar.</p>

<p>“When I began reading abusive material to my kids, I took the choice to stop using Twitter out of instinct. This is the lowest you could go when it occurred. Say whatever you want about me. My mother suffered maltreatment as well. My mum is still getting older. I made the choice when my kids were five years old.</p>

<p>“At this point, I won’t use this platform again for anything. Naturally, my business is on it. I recognize Twitter’s significance. But I’m not interested in using this platform. I’m not interested in reading anything about my kids. As a parent and a fellow human being, it tears my heart, Karan told Mid-Day.</p>

<p>Karan further clarified that the allegations of nepotism leveled against him as a producer had nothing to do with his choice to stop using Twitter. “I haven’t stopped casting people from the industry,” he said. Or I’ve cut myself off from Alia Bhatt’s amazingness altogether. I didn’t pay attention to anybody. I just stepped off a platform. That wasn’t connected to what I was saying at all. It concerned my children.</p>

<p>“I was unable to read that. Anyone who has children would understand that is something you wouldn’t accept. You would accept everything, but you cannot accept anything that is against your kid. And I have no idea against whom to fight. They have no names and no faces. I’d like to just leave.</p>

<p>For the uninitiated, Karan is a single parent who gave birth to twins via surrogacy in 2017: Yash (named in honor of his late father, a film director), and Roohi (a version of his mother’s name Hiroo).</p>

<p>‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani,’ a family comedy with Alia and Ranveer Singh in the lead roles, was Karan’s most recent directing effort. Shabana Azmi, Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra, and more actors were also included in the cast. Over Rs 150 crore were made at the domestic box office for the film.</p>
