Months after its release, Janhvi Kapoor defends Bawaal and calls it “A Very Pure Thought”

Bawaal, starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, disappointed a big portion of the public when it was released in July of this year. The Holocaust victims’ pain was allegedly trivialized in the movie. In a subsequent interview, Janhvi defended the film and clarified that its creators did not want to trivialize the problem. She said, “The film’s heart was in the right place.”<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-142323″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-why-wont-pakistani-babus-work-at-president-arif-alvis-office-921142057-bawaal-reviews-750×422.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com why wont pakistani babus work at president arif alvis office 921142057 bawaal reviews” width=”1482″ height=”834″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-why-wont-pakistani-babus-work-at-president-arif-alvis-office-921142057-bawaal-reviews-750×422.jpg 750w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-why-wont-pakistani-babus-work-at-president-arif-alvis-office-921142057-bawaal-reviews-1024×576.jpg 1024w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-why-wont-pakistani-babus-work-at-president-arif-alvis-office-921142057-bawaal-reviews-768×432.jpg 768w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-why-wont-pakistani-babus-work-at-president-arif-alvis-office-921142057-bawaal-reviews-390×220.jpg 390w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-why-wont-pakistani-babus-work-at-president-arif-alvis-office-921142057-bawaal-reviews-150×84.jpg 150w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-why-wont-pakistani-babus-work-at-president-arif-alvis-office-921142057-bawaal-reviews.jpg 1280w” sizes=”(max-width: 1482px) 100vw, 1482px” title=”Months after its release, Janhvi Kapoor defends Bawaal and calls it "A Very Pure Thought" 3″>

“I participated in many of the original conversations with the creators about what the aim and thinking were. I was very clear about what we were trying to say and where it was coming from, and I think that it’s a very simple idea of just trying to motivate people by what had happened to understand that our problems are nothing compared to what had happened, and hopefully get them to see things in a new way,” she told Galatta Plus.

Everything depends on perspective. I regret that some individuals may have concluded that we were trivializing the situation. That wasn’t the plan at all. I’d want to know where that viewpoint comes from,” the actress said.

Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor visit an Auschwitz gas chamber in the movie Bawaal. They fight to breathe as they enter a gas chamber in one of the images, which is dreamlike. Janhvi’s character discussed human avarice in another moment when she said, “Aren’t we all a little like Hitler?” and continued, “Every relationship goes through its Auschwitz.” The Israeli embassy in India also released a statement last month criticizing the film.

Before Janhvi Varun Dhawan spoke out in support of his film, he told Pinkvilla, “Some people felt emotional over this. However, I’m not sure where that sensitivity or trigger goes when they watch, say, an English movie, to provide an example. You’ll find that accurate. They are permitted to do anything there, to jump from cliffs, and to present things in a certain manner.
