<p>Marco Ilagan, from Chicago, Illinois, and Fran Cassaniti, from Buenos Aires, Argentina, were lovers of travel who were engaged in a distant relationship. They enjoyed date evenings in different destinations across the globe, meeting up in places like India, Thailand, and Brazil to be together instead of depending on FaceTime chats as other long-distance couples do.</p>
<p>When they initially met and realized they had a similar love for traveling, their trip started in 2016. <p>After travelling to Marco Ilagan’s native Philippines, Fran Cassaniti and Marco Ilagan set off on their voyage. Six months later, they made their way to Hawaii. They quickly realized, however, that their frequent hotel and hostel changes—one every five days—were not conducive to their intended objective of operating a life-coaching company while traveling. Fran said that they were looking for a means to travel more steadily and find ways to save costs on lodging.</p>
<p>During this time, they were encouraged to begin house sitting after seeing a digital nomad couple who had been doing it for two years. <p>During the home sit, it was their duty to look after a dog and a Tweetie the free-flying cockatiel. Fran and Marco were also given a vehicle, two mountain bikes, and hiking equipment by the owners so they could explore and take in the gorgeous Alaskan landscape. <p>House sitting became Fran and Marco’s favorite method of living and traveling once they gave it a try.
