NCCF sells 560 tons in 15 days whereas ONDC sells 10,000 kg of tomatoes in a week

To combat the rising cost of tomatoes throughout India, Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) previously said that it will offer the produce for Rs 70 per kg in Delhi. Since making the offer, ONDC claims to have sold 10,000 kg of tomatoes in only six days. T Koshy, the head of ONDC, told Money Control that the national capital’s National Cooperative Consumer Federation (NCCF) received daily allocations of 2,000 kg of tomatoes, which were all gone by afternoon.

After prices surged owing to a scarcity of supply last month, the Central government ordered NCCF and NAFED to sell tomatoes at Rs 70 per kg. Since that time, the two governmental organizations have consistently purchased tomatoes from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Maharashtra and have helped to lower the price of the produce in important consumption regions like Delhi-NCR, Bihar, and Rajasthan, among others.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-106303″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-anurag-basu-admits-vulgar-incident-in-super-dancer-3-was-embarrassing-download-2023-08-01t170122.488.jpg” alt=”” width=”1316″ height=”986″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-anurag-basu-admits-vulgar-incident-in-super-dancer-3-was-embarrassing-download-2023-08-01t170122.488.jpg 259w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-anurag-basu-admits-vulgar-incident-in-super-dancer-3-was-embarrassing-download-2023-08-01t170122.488-150×112.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1316px) 100vw, 1316px” />

T Koshy stated that the project will continue to be conducted on ONDC for at least another week and that there would be no additional delivery fees for the tomatoes.

“We have limited the amount of orders per user to one per week, nevertheless. Through this campaign, we aim to introduce ONDC to as many individuals as possible,” he said.

The government-backed interoperable commerce network has been connected with the Paytm app and Magicpin, which both allow users to make orders. The most that a consumer may order using the site is 2 kilograms. According to the Economic Times story, Shadowfaz couriers are handling the delivery.

On Sunday, NCCF said that in the previous 15 days, it had sold 560 tonnes of tomatoes at a reduced price. Retail prices are still skyrocketing as a result of severe rainfall in important producing states, and the clearance sale is still going on.

Anice Joseph Chandra, the managing director of NCCF, told PTI that sales of tomatoes had reached 560 tonnes in Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh as of July 28 and are still going on in those three states.

In Delhi-NCR, NCCF is selling the harvest via mobile vans, a few Kendriya Bhandar retail locations, and ONDC.
