Examining Harmanpreet Kaur’s Conduct: BCCI President and NCA Head to Meet

After her outburst during the third and final ODI against Bangladesh women a few days ago, Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of the Indian women’s team, might find herself in hot water.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-100525″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/theindiaprint.com-examining-harmanpreet-kaurs-conduct-bcci-president-and-nca-head-to-meet-download-2.jpg” alt=”” width=”1222″ height=”653″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/theindiaprint.com-examining-harmanpreet-kaurs-conduct-bcci-president-and-nca-head-to-meet-download-2.jpg 307w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/theindiaprint.com-examining-harmanpreet-kaurs-conduct-bcci-president-and-nca-head-to-meet-download-2-150×80.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1222px) 100vw, 1222px” />

The International Cricket Council (ICC) issued two degrees of sanctions, including match bans and fines equivalent to 75% of the match cost, after Harmanpreet lost her composure during and after the match.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) did not seem to have been pleased with the captain of India’s actions throughout the game.

In a fit of fury after her dismissal, Harmanpreet destroyed the stumps because the on-field umpire had ruled her out leg before wicket.

Later, Harmanpreet expressed her disappointment with the subpar umpiring standards, vowing to be better prepared the next time her team visits Bangladesh.

She then asked the opposition team’s captain, Nigar Sultana, to include the umpires in the series-ending photograph, making fun of the Bangladeshi team. After hearing this jab, Sultana led her squad back to the changing area.

According to BCCI secretary Jay Shah, the BCCI president Roger Binny and the director of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), VVS Laxman, will meet with Harmapreet shortly to address her conduct.

“Our President Roger Binny and VVS Laxman will speak with her about the outburst,” he said. She has already been suspended by the ICC, and it is too late to file an appeal, Shah told reporters.

The acts of Harmanpreet were questioned by several former Indian cricket stars. Her actions, according to 1983 World Cup winner Madan Lal, were “pathetic,” and the BCCI’s disciplinary committee should punish her severely. She is not superior than the rivals. Lal said that she severely damaged the prestige of Indian cricket.

Former India women’s cricket team captain Diana Edulji called Harmanpreet’s actions “deplorable.” She continued by suggesting that Harman’s “ugly conduct” may have been caused by her poor batting technique.

“It was regrettable to see Harmanpreet ask the umpires to take a photo with the Bangladeshi squad, giving the impression that they were teammates and represented the team. I am aware of Harman’s anger, so maybe her rude behavior was motivated by her inability to score runs. But on that particular day, she went too far since she persisted in objecting to the award ceremony, Edulji stated.
