<p>Ishant Sharma said that former Indian bowler Zaheer Khan jokingly informed Virat Kohli, “You’ve ended my career,” after the latter had lost a catch of Brendon McCullum in 2014. However, Zaheer Khan has refuted this assertion.</p>

<p>For the uninitiated, India faced up against New Zealand in Wellington, which also happened to be Zaheer’s last international contest for India. In the same game, McCullum would go on to score three hundred runs in the second innings when Kohli gave him a crucial reprieve.</p>
<p>Ishant didn’t remember the whole episode, despite Zaheer having explained his version of events.</p>
<p>In New Zealand, we were performing. I remembered that this occurred about lunchtime when Virat Kohli lost a catch because Brendon McCullum had achieved 300 runs, said Sharma.</p>
<p>“Virat said sorry to Zak, and Zak said, ‘No worries, we’ll get him out,’” the speaker said. Zak reassured Kohli not to worry when he apologized once again over tea. When Kohli apologized on the third day over tea, Zak informed him, “You’ve ended my career.</p>
<p>Zaheer, who had just chimed in, stressed that he had not said anything.</p>
<p>I never said that. According to what I indicated, there were only two players. The first was Kiran More, who eliminated Graham Gooch and scored 300. Virat Kohli then dropped a catch, resulting in someone scoring 300. He then instructed me not to speak in such manner, obviously because he wouldn’t have felt good about it. The runs were scored because the catch was dropped, he said.</p>
<p>India was in a strong position in the second Test with hopes of tying New Zealand, but the outcome was overturned by a lost catch, and the Kiwis were able to pull away for a tie and a 1-0 series victory.</p>
