Adipurush Row: The Supreme Court Denies Prabhas Starrer’s Request to Have His CBFC Certificate Revoked

Adipurush’s producers may breathe a sigh of relief as the Supreme Court on Friday denied their request to have the CBFC retract the certification of the Om Raut film, which stars Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan. According to Hindustan Times, Justice SK Kaul observed before the supreme court, “Everyone is touchy about everything now…tolerance for movies, books are going down.”

In addition, the Supreme Court suspended the proceedings at the Allahabad High Court, which is considering appeals against Adipurush’s portrayal of the Hindu classic Ramayana. The Supreme Court reversed the decision of the High Court ordering the producers of the Prabhas-starring film to appear before it on July 27.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-87312″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-the-mantras-for-the-future-workforce-are-skilling-reskilling-and-upskilling-pm-modi-download-2023-07-21t182713.064.jpg” alt=”” width=”1413″ height=”784″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-the-mantras-for-the-future-workforce-are-skilling-reskilling-and-upskilling-pm-modi-download-2023-07-21t182713.064.jpg 301w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-the-mantras-for-the-future-workforce-are-skilling-reskilling-and-upskilling-pm-modi-download-2023-07-21t182713.064-150×83.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1413px) 100vw, 1413px” />

The director of Adipurush, Om Raut, producer Bhushan Kumar, and dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir were previously required to appear before the Allahabad high court on July 27 for the unversed. The court had further requested that a five-person committee be formed by the federal government to investigate the debates around the film.

Last month, the Allahabad High Court criticized both the Adipurush film’s creators and the censor board, asking, “What is it that the censor board continues doing? What do you want to impart to next generations?

The Om Raut-directed film’s Ravana and Lord Hanuman figures, according to a petition before the High Court, were “completely divorced from the Indian civilization.” The request also criticized the speech in the movie, calling it “ridiculous,” “low standard,” and “cheap.”

On June 16, Adipurush was made available. The Hindu epic Ramayana serves as the inspiration for the movie. But ever since it was released, the movie has received a lot of criticism from those who claim it misrepresents the epic. People have complained that the language and how Ravana and Lord Hanuman are portrayed in the movie are disappointing. Even if the famed “kapda tere baap ka” phrase was revised last month, it had no effect.

The author of Adipurush, Manoj Muntashir, also acknowledged that the movie had damaged viewers’ feelings and apologized in public earlier this month. “I recognize that Adipurush has harmed people’s feelings. I offer my sincere apologies with hands folded. May Prabhu Bajrang Bali keep us all together and give us the fortitude to serve our beautiful country and the holy Sanatan,” he said.
