<p>Dayaben, an iconic character created by Disha Vakani, has been absent from the hit television program Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah for more than four years. Disha, who had portrayed Daya Jethalal Gada in Asit Kumar Modi’s comedy, took an extended maternity break in 2017 and hasn’t returned to the program since. For all TMKOC enthusiasts, there may be some good news, however.</p>
<p>In a video posted by a Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah fan page on Instagram, Disha’s actual brother Mayur Vakani, who portrays Sundar Lal in the program, seems to have verified Dayaben’s comeback. <p>Only time will tell whether the producers were successful in convincing Disha to reprise her role as Dayaben or if a new face has been recruited for the program. The creators have not yet released a formal remark on the subject.</p>
<p>Since about 15 years ago, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been doing well. The performers Disha Vakani, Bhavya Gandhi, Shailesh Lodha, and Neha Mehta among others have left the program throughout the years. Raj Anadkat, who once played Tappu in the well-known comedy, quit the program recently as well.</p>
<p>Asit Kumar Modi addressed the consecutive departures of numerous performers from his program in March of this year. “I am also weary of having to respond to and begrudge people asking this question. But because I am the show’s producer, I will have to respond. Even now, I still long for the return of our original Daya Bhabhi, also known as Disha Vakani. Like my sister, Disha. She wants to be with her family. Her two children are. I cannot compel her to return if she does not want to,” he informed us.</p>
<p>Asit stated, “I am looking for new Daya Bhabhi,” when asked for an update on locating the new Dayaben. Playing the part of Dayaben is not simple. Everyone is familiar with Disha Vakani’s method. Even now, we still miss her. Finding a fresh candidate for the position is difficult. This does not imply that I am scared. Although I have no fear, I aim for excellence. It is hard to stand in for Disha. Her performance was excellent, but I’m looking for someone with a flair that would wow everyone. Although it takes time, Dayaben will return shortly.</p>
